Ewick is Professor of Comparative Culture at the University Graduate
School and Faculty of Policy Studies, Chuo University, Tokyo. He began
collecting material for the Archive of Japan
in English-Language Verse around 1987, became conscious that the collection
might be of interest to a few other people around
1997, and is responsible for putting parts of it online in 2003. He may

Irene
De Angelis received her PhD from the University of Turin, with
a dissertation on the “Japanese effect” in contemporary Irish
poetry. Her undergraduate thesis was on Yeats’ Noh plays. With Joseph
Woods she recently has co-edited Our Shared Japan: An Anthology of
Contemporary Irish Poetry, forthcoming from Dedalus Press in Dublin.
She is the author of several articles on contemporary Irish poetry and
is working on a monograph on the Ireland-Japan literary connection. At
the Archive of Japan in English-Language Verse
she is editor for recent and contemporary work, particularly In
the Spaces Between East and West, the section focusing on poems first
