BL. W. B. Yeats

112. Matsuura, Kaichi. ‘Yeats no nôgeki mohôno tokushu hitsuzensei: narabini ‘taka no i’ no imi ni tsuite’ (On the special necessity of Yeats’s imitation of the nô and the meaning of At the Hawk’s Well [12]). Tsurumi joshidaigaku kiyô 1 (1963): 1-50.

Matsuura outlines Irish folk beliefs in the supernatural and how they fit into Yeats’s ontological system, and argues that Yeats found in the nô both a confirmation for a Celtic visionary consciousness and a set of dramatic principles that allowed him to bring it successfully to the stage.
